Marie "Grindstone" Balgamwalla
Client in the spotlight – Where Team Omega athletes are featured that have accomplished amazing feats of strength or physical transformation.
Marie sought the help of a strength coach following the advice of her physical therapist that a lack of strength was the cause of her ills. Marie began with Erin Stanton to set out on a journey of physical transformation. Marie began with a squat of 55lbs, bench press of 45lbs, and a deadlift of 135lbs. Marie had never been an athlete, nor athletic. Her conditioning was poor and she routinely found herself unable to perform physical tasks without injury.
As with most of our athletes, the prescription was: simple, hard, and heavy training. With an early focus on movement, Marie was instructed how to move effectively. Strength followed with substantial increases in load as tolerated. Body composition was addressed once a solid base of strength was built. After a small back injury setback requiring perseverance and adjustment, Marie battled back to be transformed into a powerlifting athlete.
Marie trains three times a week; twice weekly squat, twice weekly deadlift, three times weekly pressing movements. Her diet revolves around animal proteins, and high nutrient density foods. As an athlete Marie placed 2nd at APA worlds with a 226lb squat, 120lb bench press, 231lb deadlift. At Deadlift’s for Doernbecher charity even she raised over $500 and deadlifted an easy 260lbs. Marie has also lost 50 pounds.
Great job Marie, we look forward to seeing what you can continue to accomplish.
